First of all... I am sorry this is late and for how long it has taken me to update! That last Month in the Philippines went so quickly and I became extremely busy! So as I mentioned in my last Blog the Holo Holo Ministry team left returning to Kona. I remained with the Naga base staff for a month. I have had the most incredible time really getting to know the Ministries at Naga and being able to join a church.
Ministry at Naga;
So every day we go and feed kids at Azucena which are all the children from the Slums. I go at least twice a week as the only Staff member and bring one of the youth being discipled by the base with me. Its amazing to go and fill up their little smelly dirty well loved cups. They use what ever they have.....some use old pot noodle cups as they don't actually have a proper cup! We fill them up with a protein and vitamin drink which help them gain weight and stay more healthy. While I was there we also helped raise some money to earn money for school supplies. The new school year was about to start and without school supplies they are not allowed into the school. We raised a lot of support and were able to give the children everything they needed to go to school. Every Saturday the same Azucena children come over for worship, Bible study and a meal. I was able to lead worship every Saturday as they all sing and dance. We split them into age groups after worship and share with them a Bible study followed by some lunch. Amanda leads a Girls group once a month! She is the only white American girl living at the Ywam Naga Base. She leads this girls Bible study and get together for street kids above the age of 15. I was able to help her with 2 of these events and was very blessed to see all these girls laugh and have fun for the afternoon.
I have started attending the Pamukid Presbyterian Church. I have been also spending time with the Youth Group and attending their fellowship which happens twice a week. I have been really blessed as I have made a lot of good friends at that church and enjoyed the fellowship. Some of the younger children have started to call me 'Mummy Hatty.' The girls are always asking for help learning how to harmonise so I often help them with their worship. I also was able to help share a few short words at the youth group. The older youth all act as an example to the younger youth by helping lead some of the activities. I was able to really get to know the youth and partner with them in prayer with a lot of things. I was hugely blessed by the Pastor of the church and his family. Kuya Adel, who pastors the church and his wife Ate Amy both are Ywam Naga Staff so we are one big family. They 'adopted' me into their family and I have become very close to them and their 3 children. I was able to stay at their house after youth group and church as it was often dark by the time it finished. It took me around 45 minutes sometimes to travel and when it was dark it didn't feel safe to travel back to base.
