I am halfway through lecture phase right now! I cannot quite believe how much I have learnt in these past few weeks. I am really learning what it takes to be a leader and what it involves. I feel incredibly blessed that God called me back here to do this school.
Some of the things that have stood out over the past few weeks is that the relationships in leadership are core! Without good relationships it can just be a stream of orders and a job. It is very important to know your teams gifts and to help people to do what they are best suited at and not what they aren’t as gifted in. It is also so important to work in a team as you can't do everything on your own even if it looks easier. There is so much more I could say but I wouldn’t have time to type it out.
During this this time we are also applying things practically. We are responsible for the class and how it is run. We all have jobs, mine is I MC the class. We are also doing fundraising while we are here for the ministry. This weekend we are doing an outreach fun day with a local church, Solid Rock for the community. Also at weekends we raise funds selling Krispy Creams on the side of the road for donations. We are also working on building a gym and getting all the nitty gritty details sorted before we get practical.
I guess the biggest news is that I am going back to Naga for 2 months. I am not going for a month like the rest of the team, and coming back to Hawaii. I plan on saying for 2 months and flying back to England from there. This saves a lot of money and has opened a lot of ministry opportunities. I prayed one day about what I was meant to do in the Philippines and the Lord said, "Stay for 2 months till your Visa runs out and I want you to work with Filipino girls." I had no idea what exactly that would involve, but as I shared with our Ministry Leader, Uncle Paul he said Amanda, who is part of the staff, is running a girls camp in May for street girls in Naga. I was amazed at how God confirmed everything and how much of a peace and assurance he has given me. God is good!
I am going to show some Photos of some things we got upto last time I was there, coming alongside Christians, working with young people from gangs, from the streets and slums.
