I am so excited to write this blog post today!!! I have some amazing stories after being here for less than 2 weeks.
Camp Lokahi -
Camp Survivor This years camp was so different to how I had imagined it to be. I felt a lot more involved and understood a lot more of the camps objectives and what was expected. I was able to help put the teams together this year, this meant I chose which leaders would be with with which campers. My team was so amazing this year, the total opposite to last years team. (My old team was brilliant, but very challenging.) I had a lot of the worship leaders who led worship at camp in my team. I also had a girl called Mai Mai whose parents work at the base so I already knew her. I had a girl from Olongapo, I had met her previously during my DTS outreach when I went and visited the Olongapo base. I also had a few more people in my team who I already knew from when I was here in the Philippines last year! We all had to name our team and we called ourselves a tribe due to the fact it was a survivor camp. We all immediately got on really well and worked well as a team.
I felt like I had everyone I needed in that team to make it work smoothly. At camp we had a dance competition and a karaoke night which each tribe competed against each other. (All Christian songs.) I was so blessed to have dancers and singers (the worship band) in my team! We also had to dress up each meal to win points for our tribe. We had some fun times all together dressing up and just looking silly. Some of my favorite themes where, "Bed Head" and "Tribe"! On the last night we all went into our teams and shared what we are finding hard, (things we can't survive with). I got to pray God back fully as Lord over their lives and circumstances, into every single on of my campers, (there were 11 campers in my tribe.) I got a word of knowledge from the Lord for all of them and really felt the presence of God. There was laughter, tears, stories, honesty, confession and I'm pretty sure all of them felt a burden being released from off their shoulders. When we had to all say goodbye it was so sad. I was so tired at this point, I had also lost my voice from singing and jamming with them all so much. I love these opportunities God gives to me and being able to work with so many different kinda of youth groups.
